JEWELRY

A Galaxy of DIAMONDS

Can you even picture jewelry without diamonds? We sure can’t. Of course, there are other precious stones worth taking into consideration, but none with quite the same allure and pull. Here are the latest trends and collections to covet and wear forever.

Jewelry Trends

BULGARISET FOR LIFERoyal dignitaries and leading ladies have all been papped wearing Harry Winston’s high jewelry over the years. The New Yorker wasn’t dubbed “King of Diamonds” for no reason. His designs seduced the 20th century’s most extraordinary personalities, including Elizabeth Taylor, the Duchess of Windsor, and Marilyn Monroe. So, it comes as no surprise that the Maison continues to draw on its heritage for present-day collections. We especially love the Lily Cluster earrings in rose gold, which are set with rows of 90 round brilliant and 2 marquise diamonds.

SET FOR LIFE

Never too much

If you love it, it’s MAI TROPPO (never too much). If you enjoy it, it’s MAI TROPPO. If it makes you feel your best, it’s MAI TROPPO. This new campaign is an ode to life, joy, and happiness. Deeply rooted in a Roman flamboyant exuberance, Bulgari invites to enthusiastically enjoy every single moment, here and now.

 Portraits of nature

De Beers’ high jewelry collection, “Portraits of Nature,” is an absolute beauty. You’ll definitely be in danger of falling in love with one of their animal-inspired pieces. What caught our eye is the Greater Flamingo necklace - an exquisitely crafted piece in perfect symmetry made with exceedingly rare pink diamonds set in to create a gradient effect from white to brownish, orangey, fancy pink and finally leading to a marquise 3.01-carat pink center stone. The design is an interpretation of the magnificent colors and patterns of flamingo feathers.

Golden globe

Last summer, the London-based designer and gemologist Cassandra Goad - whose devotees include the Duchess of Cambridge - marked 35 years in the jewelry industry with vibrant new pieces inspired by her travels to some of the world’s most memorable destinations. Marvel at her “Nanjing” butterfly earrings named for the Chinese city, diamond-studded Italian “blooms” and a spinel ring the hue of a Scandinavian sunset.

Belt it out

First introduced in 1934, the widely loved Ludo bracelet was named after one of Van Cleef & Arpels’ founders, Louis Arpels. Distinctive for its belt-like shape and studded with precious details, the bracelet has a flexible mesh in briquette and hexagon motifs to keep it fluid and comfortable to wear.

Take a chance

To mark its 80th anniversary in 2016, jeweler Fred created a talismanic collection called 8°0. The line features a figure of eight on its side, which is commonly known as the infinity symbol—a motif that is now synonymous with the brand. The number eight also represents founder Fred Samuel’s birth date—the jeweler was born in August (the eighth month) 1908. Well aware of the challenges and general gloom enveloping a world consumed by coronavirus, Fred thought it appropriate women should be able to benefit from some good old-fashioned luck. As such, the Chance Infinie collection has also been conceived as a talisman. What are you waiting for? Choose from earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings.

 All that tweed

Gabrielle Chanel was a pioneer at adapting tweed from menswear into womenswear, which she designed for free-spirited women like her. In an unprecedented collection, Chanel reimagined its signature icon in the intricate and stunning textures of Tweed De Chanel. The jewelry collection lovingly mimics the distinctive characteristics of tweed, weaved with layers upon layers of diamonds, sapphires, pearls, and gold.

 Prized pendants

The snake has long been a symbol of healing and protection, and Boucheron’s Serpent Boheme collection is an ode to this creature, reduced to a stylized snake’s head. These new pendant earrings from the grand Parisian Maison do double duty: they are convertible in a simple twist from a statement-making shoulder-grazing length to a sweeter three-drop size, in white or yellow gold, fully pave-set with white diamonds.

Diamond hour

The new “L’Heude du Diamant” collection showcases the symbiosis of the jewelry and watchmaking facets of Chopard. The eight jewelry watches in white gold and diamonds recreate the libertarian spirit of the sixties. Their hard-stone dials are inspired by original models from 1969: lapis lazuli, turquoise, malachite or opal. A mineral modernism demanded by a young and avant-garde clientele.
